I picked up this kit in my local hobby shop today and i thought i would make an immediate start on her. The plan is to finish her in the bare metal scheme in the kit. This will be my first try with alclad paint so should be interesting. First of all the cockpit, basic but does look okay: And then the ejector seat (the kit comes with two options of seats) Can anyone recommend what colour the rest of the seat should be, paint call outs are only for the sides and the cushions:

www.b-57canberra.org/images/69-05-15_Det_1-5.jpg shows a bit of the seats. Headrest is red, remainder seems to be a mid to dark grey. I believe most of the interior should be dark gull grey (Humbrol 140) so that seems a good bet for the seats too. If the natural metal option is an RB-57E you need to add the cameras that Airfix left out, A KA-1 in the tip of the nose and a KA-36 under the rear of the nosecone.

Does anyone have any photos of the missing camera ports?

Ollie, Thank you for posting your build. I was hoping I would finally see a build/review on the B-57 version prior to receiving mine. I'm partial to the Vietnam version in the typical colors. Looks like a good build and better yet you are enjoying it which is the point.
So I hope you will continue through completion.
Well done,
Don

Alclad has now been sprayed on and i love this stuff. First layer was dark alluminium with a dusting of steel on top. The only problem so far has been i did not install enough nose weight, ive got 4 ounces in there and it is not enough. The instructions recommend 3.5 ounces.

Ive started to do the decaling and hit one big snag. The U.S Air Force markings each side of the nose are way to large, the entire text should fit between the leading edge of the wing and the black nose secion but the last letter on both sides is on the black nose. Ive checked ive got the black nose in the righ place and it is, so im guessing its the decals. I couldnt see any soloution so ive applied the decals and i will just have to live with it.
Photos coming tomorrow to show what i mean.

Photos here: And an overall view: Ive contacted Airfix today and they admit there is a fault with the decal sheet, they say the entire set of markings is over size. They have passed it onto the correct people to see a resoloution and even offerd me a new 1:72 Canberra when it comes out. Id still like a fixed decal sheet though. O well this projects going on the backburner for now unless someone releases an after market sheet for it.

Maybe best to have left them off till you found a replacement. Mind you it looks good all the same. But like nuts and bolts, they have to be in the right position, so your best bet is to take thease off,. 'If you can', and wait till you get the right ones. Do not want to spoil the good work so far.
