Hi Colin. I did note with some hilarity and then some concern your vitriolic attack about a lack of e-mail traffic from the present chair/secretary of the World Helicopter SIG ( Geoff Arnold )and that you could not contact him! Geoff has stated to the SIG he had replied to you in the past. However by his own admission he does not always follows cross verbal discussions across the w.w.w. Because of your comments i e-mailed Phil Cater (UKLO ) about these, and prior to Scaleworld ( 2013) he was going to arrange a meeting of yourself and the SIG for the Saturday at noon at the SIG stand to go over the issues you wished to raise. The show came and went and although you were seen in the Cafe area ( right opposite our very large display ) but i am sorry to say, you did not make your presence known to any SIG member on either day. Your comments about Geoff are wide of the mark, and his passion for anything model or aircraft is well known by many modellers in the U.K. In fact it can be a dickens of a job to get him to "shut up " sometimes. So why you think he should be "kicked out" shows a Machiavellian approach to userp him from that " badge" and for somebody else!! to run the SIG in a diffrent style, and for reasons only known to yourself?
When Peter and then Tish handed in their respective tenures of the SIG both stated work or personal commitments for the cessation of the SIG and the old Rotor Torque newsletter. Then because no one else could be bothered to take it on Geoff and four other members of Shropshire Modellers and IPMS Telford took it on, this then ensured that SIG did not fold up, and it's modelling pedigree was carried on. But at no time was it then or now ever required to have a paper or electronic page to keep the SIG going. A recent ballot of the current active members of the SIG produced without exception a mandate to remain as we are now, and not to enter a world which offers a web or electronic collection point. For those modellers who wish to join or show a genuine wish to join, we offer on our stand a paper e-mail contact detail, a card and contact deatils which also includes my telephone number, we do offer a personal contact either by telephone or the postal system if that is required. That seems to me to be an open group and most certainly not a "closed shop".
There are enough experts out there in the vitual world to provide any deatil or query required, and our decision is that we do not wish to become or have the SIG in it's present form become a clearing house for this type of function, then ensuring we do not favour any main or cottage industy / manufacturing or suppliers endorsements. You are most welcome to re-join should you and "Strangesteve" wish to do so. I am sure that if you had approached any SIG member you would have been made most welcome, after all models and helicopters are our passion and what we say on our tin is what you get. Colin, you have known Geoff for many years, do you really think he is not bothered with the SIG ? the "badge" therefore remains with the present incumbent, and not a bass drum thumper.
Kind regards

I must admit that I always thought that SIG's were there to promote interest in which ever field the SIG specialized in and provide information and answer queries people way have on the subject but I must have that wrong. Steve
