I am seriously thinking of having a go a building this strange beast, providing I can unearth enough data to produce some scale drawings. Notice that the decals are the same as on my avatar photo.

Does anyone know if this vehicle can still be viewed or have ANY data or measurements for it? Thanks.

Things are moving on (slowly) and I am now in a position to get some scale drawings done. A member of another forum has very kindly supplied me with some valuable information.

And me!!!!!
I`m just about ready to begin building. The 1:24th drawings have taken a while to do as I only had ONE concrete piece of data and that was the tyre size (40" x 8") on one of the photos. Armed with that dimension I have been able to accurately scale up from some very good side-on photos.
Fortunately Foden used the same axle and suspension as the `C` steamer that I`ve recently built, so there will be a least one section where I know what I`m doing.

Right! - I`m now ready to start the build. I have been so impressed with the skill shown by Turtle in his scratch building that I thought I`d `borrow` his idea for a profile sanding jig and have produced my own version of one. Having tried it out a couple of times, I can`t believe that I didn`t do this years ago. A STRAIGHT edge EVERY time WOW!.

We are on our way at last. The Chassis gives the impression of being out of scale at times, but it isn`t. The body is only the same length as the diameter of the rear wheel.

I must have saved a fortune in styrene if the amount of cardboard off-cuts in the bin are anything to go by. I`ve always been in the habit of doing cardboard mock-ups first. That way modifications can be done very cheaply.

Looking good Jim Do you also use the cardboard mock ups as stencils for the plastic card?

I don`t use them as stencils Harriett but I DO use the final mock-up to take ALL the measurements from. It may not look like it but the cab sides are three thicknesses deep (due to fine tuning) and the rear wings were moved about half a dozen times before they looked right (thank goodness for double sided sticky tape). Yes - cost wise, empty boxes are the way to go when scratching because all I`ve had to go off on this build are six photos and ONE actual wheel size.

Time for the first progress pics of this year - just to prove that I`m still at it.
