Looks good, is certainly the safest way to go if you are going to use enamels or spray cans.
On the other hand you'll need a transformer for 24 Volts which is also going to cost some money.
if you send yr e-mail I shall try to shoot and send some pics of my equipment and the fans possibly end of week.

cheers rolf will do as soon as i get away from a mate of mine who owns a boat . right now he says he has no problem using the unit for what i am but was concerned about filtering paint . i have now explained i will be running at least a charcoal filter and he,s happy because it is designed to remove fuel fumes which i,d think were as hazardous as paint

ok been playing with the plans and taking on board what was said and i came up with this . basic shape remains the same , but this time im going to modify a box fan and extend the pole that holds the fan to allow me to hold more fans . not sure if this gives more suction , but if not i,ll revert to the bilge blower idea . theres two holes shown , but im not sure if i need em both and theres also a pressure release on the front of the plenum box incase its too powerfull . the reason ive extended the pole on the motor is simple really , its hopefully going to keep the fumes away from the motor because the natural drag is to the right . to test this theory im going to block the front off with perspex and chuck in a smoke pellet and observe the airflow , not sure on cost yet , but im going to start pricing things up when i get back off my hols . aanyways heres a looksy of what i got now

Merlin - I'd really love to be able to draw with the computer like you are ! But if I read the drawing correctly - sorry to disappoint you - fitting your fans in series (i.e. one behind the other) is not getting you where you want.
You'll have to fit them parallel - in the same plane - so every one of them is able to suck and exhaust undisturbed.
If you can put up with some delay I shall take pics of my equipment coming weekend and mail asap.

well im just an impatient guy so while rolf is busy snapping pictures to give me an idea of how to do this right i,m going to keep working on this . this time i have included a plenum chamber and filtration at the rear with the filter attached to the skin you see and the fan attached to the rear skin oin the centre . i,ve also included a duct to the plenums void area to release pressure should i need to at the front , this will be as air tight as i can using draft excluder or something like it . anyways take a look and give us your input or suggestions
