When SIGs were new, things were more informal - members were on a list and on call, but didn't usually have to pay anything but postage. Presumably the USAFsWWII SIG - me! - is the only one left still operating on that basis. I gave up doing a newsletter PDQ for all the reasons above. Newsletters are fine if you have a few people who like doing them - but one is TOO few. Can I join FAASIG as a "sleeping" or "associate" member? I'm only interested in the aircraft of the WWII period, but within my limits I know a fair bit and may be a useful bloke to ask. But I don't want to subscribe to a regular newsletter. There's too many of them, nearly one per SIG, and I'm interested in (some of) the subject matter of lots of SIGs! Maybe we should allow SIGs (and maybe Branches) to throttle back a bit from time to time without pronouncing them dead ........ Regards, Bri.

Hi Bri,
I'm afraid we can't do that without a change to the M+As as all Branches and SIGs are required to submit an Annual Return.
This shows us that they have the minimum 5 current IPMS (UK) members as required by the Branch and SIG Constitution.
I've also just worked out why my e-mails to Steve were bouncing - I've been sending them to FAASIG@ntlworld.com rather than the MSN address!
Cheers,
Rob M.

Hello Brian, Most certainly you can join as a member of the SIG, we have not had a Newsletter in the US Naval A/C SIG for some time, like most things the VERY few were writing the words, and rightly so thought it very boring to read what they had just written without much more being input elsewhere. We have replaced this with a Yahoo site that does not cost anything to run. Anyone making an announcement immediately triggers an e-mail to the rest of the Group, very useful for letting the group know anything urgent. Also photos or articles can be uploaded again without any cost to the group. Hopefully by tomorrow Rob will have received the paperwork to make the SIG official. I will be on the US Naval A/C SIG stand if anyone wishes to collar me, or helping at the Membership Desk. Plus of course we have the Branch SIG meeting on Sunday. I received an invitation from the FAA Museum to attend their show next February for US Naval A/C, I will take the opportunity to ask for tables for the FAA SIG as well. Thank you again for your messages and support, I hope to see some of you at Telford
Best Wishes Alan

The FAA SIG is attending it's first show for 2008, that is the FAA Museum Show at Yeovilton on 9th February. We have two tables in the Swordfish Centre, facing the entrance with the US Naval A/C to the left
Anyone who like to display on the stand would be most welcome, please either contact Steve Hubbard or myself
Belated Happy New Year to you all.

Hi Alan,
I regret I won't be at VL this Feb - too many family commitments before I get my new upper terminal joint for my starboard u/c.
(i.e. my new R hip!)
Have a ball. BTW, what news from Steve Hubbard? Did you contact him as I suggested?
Cheers,
Nick

Hi Alan,
I'll be at Yeovilton with Farnborough branch: I'll bring some models and lend a hand, if you like.
Cheers, Pete Readman

Hi Alan,
Thinking (well) ahead... the next Show I'll be displaying at is SMW-08, so can bring you a good few things for then. May make Cosford to visit, but only for a few hours as I'll still have L plates on my crutches! Let us know your plans and I'll do what I can.
Cheers,
Nick
