Does anyone have any opinions on this kit? I see in SAMI that the photos show an overlarge nose wheel but good rotor head, etc. I've never built a Glencoe kit and may get one at SMW so youir opinions would help. Also, where do you get a Dragonfly from? I see Airway (?) did one but I'm surprised they aren't more readilly available. Again, opinions would be appreciated! Thanks
Hi Simon, I think the Glencoe kit maybe the very old Lincoln kit form the 60's. If so then it is not bad and yes the best part of the kit is the rotorhead, get it. Re the Dragonfly, Britavia did one plus MPM, the latter is half injected, half vac. They also do a 48th scale one. Regards Colin PS Enjoy SMW, wish I coul dbe there!
I had one once, and thought it looked suspiciously large. A quick check of dimensions showed it to be approximately 1:68 or 1:69 scale iirc. Nice but basic kit if you want a Sycamore, but if you're doing a line-up of 1:72 helos forget it, it looks completely out of place.
I didn't get your message until after the show but it was interesting at SMW! First of all I found a copy of the Glencoe kit at the Kit Swap for only £8 and I was sorely tempted but heeded Mike's advice and let it go. Then, lo and behold, I found the WhirlyKits one and acquired same! It is now in the stash waiting for the day!
Glad you found both kits Simon. I have the Glencoe kit, and although it is an odd scale, ropey in detail, and inaccurate in shape in places, I still like it. I have never seen the Whirlybird kit, but my underdtanding was that it was a re-packaged Glencoe kit with new decals and parts?
I have previously made the Bratavia Westland Dragonfly vacform helicopter kit, which I have now dismantled and is awaiting a rebuild (Has anyone out there got any spare decals for this kit?).
At some point in time, I shall try to complete my scratch built 1/48 scale Bristol Sycamore HR.14

Actually this kit scrubs up quite well given its age. I have just finished one myself and with a little bit of work was really pleased with the result. The only real downside was the badly printed decals.
