I've just masked and sprayed a 1:48th Spitfire, doing an allover grey coat, then masking with a fairly low tac masking tape and spraying the green. I didn't have any major crises, but the edge it left is too sharp for my liking even though I thought I had left the edges of the tape partly lifted. I had to run around the edges of the green parts with a thin line of thinned green to soften them up slightly, which partly worked but not as well as if the edges had diffused more naturally. I'll try using blue or white tac beads on the edges of the camo patterns next time, see if that softens the edges.

Here's another tip for you. If you cut a paper mask to the pattern you require, hold the mask about an inch or so above the model when spraying, you'll get a pattern edge which is softer. Practice with a piece of scrap plastic first.
