Confused of Corby writes... When Mattcote first came out 10+ years ago (it could be a lot older than that as I have been known to suffer from senior moments) I tried it and it was cr*p. It never dried properly and it was rubbish for brush painting. Aeons later and I thought I'd give it a try as I've read that most people use it nowadays. This time I'll spray it so it will have to be thinned anyway but... Am I missing something here? It's still gloopy and thick, about the consistency of wallpaper paste. Is it supposed to be this gloopy? Have I got a dodgy bottle? Or is this an old bottle that's out of date? (hence the reason I've posted a photo of it)

If the jar has stood for some time the matting agent will separate and settle in the bottom of the jar. This will need some serious agitation before use. I've never tried airbrushing it on as I've always had good results, straight from the jar with a brush. HTH

Yeah, there's a very thick gunge at the bottom. Before I stir and agitate it the liquid is thin enough to be brushable but after stirring the stuff it's very thick and not really brushable.

Hi Neil. Maybe try some thinned and see what happens. A friend of mine hates this stuff for spraying, but by brush comes out ok. Give it a try on some old paint service but shake well first and see the result.
