I'm currently building a magnum and have had an aerosal made up to match the ral number required. It is a 1k acrylic paint. I prime the bits i want to spray with halfords grey primer-everything is 100%, it dries and i then apply the paint and this is the result: The only way to get rid of this when applying it is to keep spraying, this results in so much paint you start to lose detail plus you get a gloss finish that looks like its soaking wet. The pressure in the can doesn't seem that great-perhaps thats an issue? But it can't be contamination unless the paint in the can is contaminated. I can't fathom it and its really annoying me. Any help or ideas appreciated!

Jason, I've seen this before, it's similar to a greasy layer on the primer. Did you rub the primer down before applying the top coat? What was the time period between the primer being applied and the first top coat? ... the primer could still be gassing off when the first top coat was applied.

Didn't rub it down Nick, i very rarely do-this didn't need any i thought. Though you may have a point about the primer gassing, i put on the top coat maybe 10/15 minutes after. Its probably far to soon but its so tempting when the primer seems to dry so quick!

I'm sure Howard covered this problem on the TMW forum recently, could be mistaken but maybe an email to Howard to confirm the diagnosis?

Thanks Nick mate, I've had a search on the forum and not turned anything up except blotching (and the picture doesn't look the same problem) so i've went direct to Howard and will hopefully get a definate answer as to how to prevent this!
