Well as many of you know the Warspite is out and a great kit it is. comes with full hull which with a little care can be taken down to water line for diorama. The instructions are good but its said on another site/forum that the camo is wrong for this ship period of 1943. And yet a book from ship craft by Les Brown gives this camo for the period, so its what I will be doing when starting mine. I have also aquired the Pontos set for this ship and this is the wood deck for it.

Hi frankaplin, you should have a lot to go at with that little lot. I also picked up the Warspite and the Pontos set in November (at Telford), and will be my next ship build, should be starting some time in March after completing the current aircraft I'm working on, and will probably take most of 2012, but am really looking forward to starting her.

Sounds good, hope to start mine this year too. I also have the QE from trumpeter, but will wait till I get the add ons for this from WEM or Pontos once there out. Theres a good build of the Warspite on Brit Modeller by a guy named Anglosaxon. And by the way I was named Foxy and had to re-register as I made a big mistake and lost me old name here .

Ah, I wondered where you'd got to; welcome back! I've seen Kostas Katsea's Warspite, will have to look out for Anglosaxon's build. Will post photos as mine progresses (but it will probably be some time yet).

Had a delayed start on mine after doing a nice little 1:350 U boat and E boat kit first - see here - www.modelshipgallery.com/gallery/dio/dkm/U176-340-rs/index.htmNow well under way with the HMS Warspite, also doing her waterline. Early days yet - have the hull and main decks fitted and filled, started fitting Pontos parts, and just commencing first parts of the superstructure. The Pontos additions are lovely; the booms are great, with all the little fittings and mountings, have done the 6" guns which are nice, and fitted a few other deck parts such as the p/e skylights over the admiral's qaurters. Will start some major sub assemblies soon, more chunks of superstructure, weapon sets, boats, cranes and 'Walruses', many of which are like complete little models in their own right.

Great to hear that you have started. I like the pom poms there a treat to build. As you can see.

Those pom poms look great. I'm Just reaching the weapons stage now (which I left to assemble until last), have almost knocked up the numerous little 20mm mounts, and starting on the pom poms soon.
Paints due to arrive tomorrow, I went for my favourate acrylics; LifeColor, which have the refencess given in the Acadamy instructions. They're probably not as accurate shades as White Ensign's, but I so much prefer using acrylics.

Great to see you are progressing with this kit. The break(xmas) has slowed me down to lol. Am reaching the rails(outer) and rigging stage now. As for paint use, well that be Hobsens choice. Glad to see any pictures here on your progress.

Just an update, getting there slowly: Working into the details now, just done all search lights, nearly finished Carley rafts, then boats to do, then cables, then 20mm + tubs, then remaining dericks, winches and other minor deck parts, then remaining railings, then remaining weathering, then rigging to do, then crew to do, then base to do ... the list seems endless, but getting there slowly.

Now thats looking good Loiner mate. Like the camo effect you have there. So its a water line you are doing with this kit. I find this suits this kit. Great to see you are moving on lol.

Thanks. Slowly but surely progressing. Just finished all the boats and carley rafts and fitted them to the ship's decks at the weekend. There are four large motor boats and two whalers, they look good and add a lot of visual interest and sense of scale to the overall appearance, mainly due to the Pontos aftermarket set virtually rebuilding them in detail, making them nice little models in their own right!
