Hi Paul, In my humble opinion, there is only one 48th Apache kit worth looking at and that is the Hasegawa kit. If you fancy a Brit jobby then the kit is made for it and there is also a resin update set if you check out www.scale-rotors.com or was it Brit modeller, in the news section you should find a review of the set. The Hasegawa kit wins hands down over anything else that is out there, for a US machine I think you will have to do some retrograde work.
Hi Paul, I bought the Hasegawa 1/48 kit after visiting Middle Wallop where the UK ones are based. I intended to do a UK version (we modified them to be better than the US ones anyway!) But you can get all of the mods to make it from Hannants. Not sure who the manufacturer is called (might be Isracast), and there is also a set of decals for it, again not sure on the producer, but its a sheet for UK aircraft in operation over Afghanistan.
Not started it yet Paul, I,m currently deep in the middle of building the Italeri 1/35 S Boot. Very impressive model. I may post some pictures of it when it is finished. I,ve just completed an Academy Achilles as well, its been a busy modelling period recently. Not sure if the Apache is on the horizon yet, I have an Academy 1/32 Hornet started, which I would like to see done first. Would be interested in seeing your AH64 though. We live in Newbury and have them flying over us all the time, along with the daily Chinook and Merlins. The Apaches have a certain feeling about them..........quite intimidating, I wouldnt like to be a Taliban on the recieving end!
thanks for the update - that 's' boat looks tempting, wish i had the space for it.
Living in Leicester we see little military stuff going over, just 1 Apache over a year ago, he did go over my work place very low and slow, i was lucky as i was out side at the time, wish i had my camera with me, would not have needed a big lens, thats for sure. He was low enough for the gunner to be giving me a long hard look, but no smile or wave!.
having said the above, i did get passed by a Chinook, yesterday as i was driving home - but that about if as far as military stuff goes.
