Hi
Can any one advise on the best colour to use for Desert Sand on modern AFV models, I generally stick to WW2 so have not had the issue prviously. Do tamiya produce this colour or do you need to mix it from various colours? Any advice appreciated, thanks

For Afrika Korps I tend to use Tamiya XF 60 Dark Yellow rather than Tamiya XF 59 Desert yellow. Variation can be introduced by mixing the two. I have also seen where a touch of X6 Orange to warm it slightly, only a touch though.

I should have added that I realise you are looking for modern colours, what I didn't make clear was that with a good base colour, you can develop lighter or darker shades quite easily using Tamiya paints.
Having said that, I would imagine that Valejo will probably have a pre mix that will be close and their Model Air colours are very good for spraying straight from the bottle.
