It all depends on what you are looking to achieve.
If the parts are not structural (ie locating a seat in the cockpit) then white or PVA adhesive will suffice.
For a rapid localised join then superglue will be best (ie small aerials to airframes)
For larger joins that require 'wiggle' time then a two part expoxy is a good idea, you can sand a lot of the modern epoxies. If you put a little excess adhesive on the joining faces then you'll find it oozes a little from the joins which can, once dry, be trimmed away with a sharp blade leaving less need for fillers etc.

Just to back up what John said.
I booked the Holiday Inn on the Monday after last years event and they were already talking about a holding list for people not repeating their bookings.
There is a clearing house type affair you can use with the local council who will find you local accomodation IIRC.

Have you spoken to the guy with the model shop on Cleethorpe Prom/sea front.
Seems keen as mustard on his models range, just needs to carry Tamiya kits.
It might be an idea to start and advertise with him, flyers in bags etc.

Has anybody got a set of tyres for the above kit 1:25 scale? Just picked a kit up but both sets of tyres are missing. If I may correct my estemed colleague. AMT and MPC were absorbed by Round 2 models of the US some years ago. The AMT '25 2 in 1 kit has been re-released and is presently available and may be a suitable source for tyres. However the importer was Amerang who themselves ceased trading last year. They have now been acquired by Ripmax who may be able to help you. THC

OK, now I get it.
It would be almost impossible to legislate out of the competition classes the kind of mixed media kit we now al enjoy so we need to legislate them in.
If Noel is going to draft a resolution to that effect then I request that he allows us to see same before he makes it so that it can be modified if necessary to meet all members needs.
Regarding the original crux of the matter it comes down to the vigilance of the judges to pick up, not literally I suspect, any die cast/pre finished model in the competition and disqualify them. I look forward to being a fly on the wall the first time they get that wrong!

How did this even become an issue?
Metal chassis have been around since the ‘60s why did it become an issue this week?
Actually don't tell me I'll just get mad!

Any silver/natural metal finish when varnished will change, No11 is by definition satin so if you're happy with the finish I'd say no to a top coat varnish. If you want to see wha teffect it will have apply an area of your chosen paint to a piece of scrap plastic and then varnish as wished and see what it does.
At the end of the day, you choose to finish your model as you wish.

Hi everyone, My name is Clive Kent I'm 68 years old, retired and widowed and live in Stamford in Lincolnshire, I have been a modeller on and off for many years mainly this has been aircraft as I spent 24 years in the Royal Air Force as a weapons engineer. I also have an interest in armoured fighting vehicles but all of my modelling to this point has been nothing more than a relaxing form of hobby, but now that I have a lot more time on my hands I would like to take it further and to be able to produce models that I could enter into displays with confidence that they are at least of an acceptable standard. I've been in touch with the Rutland branch of IPMS and received a nice welcoming e-mail back letting me know when and where the next meeting is. Well that's all about me for now but I know I will be making full use of this forum to seek out answers to the myriad questions I am bound to have as work progresses and I encounter any difficulties. Clive Hi, You're spoilt for choice with local groups as I believe there are clubs in Rutland, Sleaford, Lincoln and Grantham for you to choose from. THC

Is this event going ahead? I've tried looking at the club website but it seem to be about 3 years out of date, there's also nothing listed on the Southwell Racecourse website Hell yes it is going ahead. Frantic with organising it we are. Actually no we're not, it sort of happens by osmosis. Mr Crawford (Biggles) may be able to tell you more. H
