Steve, that trailer suspension looks great, and very neat work also . Hope you get something sorted out with the wheels. After all the work your putting in, the trailer deserves to have the right size wheels/tyres. Barrie.

Just about finished the suspension (and got the Christmas shopping done!) and it's only half past two... Just got to fix it to the underside of the trailer chassis and add the hydraulic brake return pipes, before giving a coat of Halford grey primer. All comments welcome. Cheers Steve

Never you mind about my nuts! They are 16BA and 14BA from modern-screws.co.uk and they cost between £7 and £9 per 100, so I'm using them sparingly! Steve

Just got the undercarriage fitted and a coat of Halford's Best on the underside... I've now got to figure out what route the hydraulic return pipes take on their way back to the towing eye unit. If anyone has any photos that show the underside of the front part of the trailer I'd be grateful. The jockey wheel is a much modified 1/48 Eduard F117 nose wheel because the tyre tread pattern was fairly close to what I was looking for and the shape and diameter of the tyre was almost perfect. The Eduard wheel was completely wrong, but I managed to use the rims and replace the centre of the wheel with a very simple flat "pressed steel" piece Again, any comments welcome Steve

Thanks Nige! Any idea what is the best Tamiya colour for the 4 tonner and trailer? A plain, washed out green is what I'm looking for....

Hi Steve Best person to ask on the painting side is Spence who did the fantastic Bedford MK www.truckmodelworld.com/yaf_profile6805.aspxHis painting techniques have to be checked out as absolutely stunning, with rust streaks and oil staining !!!!!!!!!! Tried to find the full blog he did on the Bedford but I know it appeared in all the best mags for obvious reasons !!!!!! Nige

Thanks Barrie, but if you think I'm coming anywhere near Perth next year with you thieving "souls" about, you're mad - when are the Jockanese Nationals again? I'll see if the "minder" is prepared to travel.... Nige, There is absolutely no way that I can even attempt the style and complexity of painting that Spence has executed on his 4 tonner - this is nothing short of fine art! Mine would be the mere daubings of a child if I tred to emulate his artistry. I know my limits.... I've followed the KISS approach (keep it simple, stupid) so far with the trailer and applied a couple of base coats over the primer and then started a bit of very basic weathering (most of it on the canvas cover) - hopefully more to follow. I've also added the lenses for the lights/rubies, although I'm still not sure if these have been added too early - time will tell! I will attempt to put some better quality photos up tomorrow. Comments welcome as always. Steve

From Spencer Pollard's article in Military In Scale Sept 2011 !!! Undercoated in Games Workshop Chaos Black, Oversprayed with thin layers Tamiya XF-65 Field Grey allowing black to shine through (heard a lot of folks use field grey), Highlights worked in by adding XF-71 Cockpit green (IJN) and XF-2 Flat white to the mix (oversprayed over corners, details and the like to accentuate features of the model and add a faded look !!!!!!!!
