I've just bought the Revell 1/72nd kit but confused by the undercarriage as the wheel well covers are moulded into the lower wings.
Is this correct, as in were the covers in place when the aircraft was on the ground, or do I need to remove them?

If you mean the main wheel well covers then they were usually closed on the ground to prevent Foreign Object Damage whilst taxing. They opened as part of the retraction sequence.
If maintainance was required to the UC they could be manually opened.

Brilliant, thank you.
I'd seen pics of the covers both up and down and also read a review of the kit where they criticised the fact that they were moulded in place, so this really helps. And by the way the kit itself is excellent and almost on a par with the recent JU88A4, a far cry from kits back in the 70's and if anything almost too much detail given my failing eye sight and not so nimble fingers these days!
Thanks again.
Kind Regards Colin.
