Airfix gives the option of flaps down on their 1/48 kit but without the provision to have the flaps on the radiators deployed. Is it accurate to display flaps down but radiator flaps stowed? Really don't want to have to start cutting these apart and fitting plasticard Any knowledge imparted gratefully received.

Spitfires on the ground with flaps deployed is a rare sight, they are retracted shortly after landing, presumably to limit possible ingress of, or damage from FOD. You are much more likely to see the rad/cooler flaps deployed when the aircraft is parked because they need to be open when the engine is running. I have quite a few Spitfire pics from Flying Legends going back a few years, I don't think there is a single example of flaps down on a parked aircraft, but the majority of them have rad/cooler flaps deployed. I would think the flaps would be dropped temporarily for a pre-flight walk around

Many thanks. What photos I have found certainly agree with this. I do wish model companies would stop getting things half-right.
