Hi Nige, I did the real thing about 15 years ago and chipped a bone in my knee. You won't get very rich on my 1/24 scale military collection, if I ever decide to have another go at flying without the plane! The latches on both sides of the front panel have to be lifted and the the panel is then fully removed and laid to one side. Cheers Steve

Between my twin nieces 12th birthday party (if you've ever been to one, you'll know how frightening they can be) and the footy tonight I managed to get a quick base coat of chocolate brown applied. Decals next, I think, and then a bit of light weathering.... Cheers Steve

Seems you two are on different threads but getting to the middle soon. I for one see this as a great build in its own right, but its not a soft skin vehicle . On the otherhand does it matter as its modeling. Nice going so far.

Hi Frank, I agree completely that it's not a soft skinned vehicle, but it will become part of my next project, which is a JCB 410M fork lift in 1/24 scale, and I couldn't thing where else to put it... I managed to get a bit of weathering done and a few decals applied, but I'm struggling to get some of the decals "bright" enough to show up clearly. Any suggestions would be very welcome.... Cheers Steve

All I can think of is sizing the decal as the panel size you are needing it for with the background set as close to the overal colour of the ULC.
Then, setting the lettering as transparent or yellow or whatever colour !!!!
Then print onto white decal sheet !!!!!!!
If there is difference in shades, try airbrushing to blend over !!!!!!!
Just a thought !!!!!!!!!

Nige, I think that you might have come up with a solution I had a few spare minutes this afternoon and had a go at modifying the decals as you suggested. Just got to see what they look like on the ULC ..... Cheers Steve

I've now added the decals to the ULC, but Photo bucket seems to have stopped providing the IMG link ( oh how I love this programme....). I will post the images whenI've worked out how to do it p Steve

Right, the last rant should be completely ignored, as it was clearly a PEBKAC issue (Problem Exist Between Keyboard And Chair). There is nothing wrong with Photobucket. Very many thanks to Nigel Bisset for his excellent suggestions - that's bound to have embarrassed him! Ha ha ha ha Cheers Steve

Yes, it is on mine too. As I said, it was "pilot error" on my part - I was still in "Organise" mode on PB and the links weren't properly displayed. as soon as I exited Organise mode everything was fine.

I've started building the other two ULCs that I will need for the JCB 410M project that will be next on my bench, and will call it a day with this thread, as the details will be exactly as previously shown. I'm in the process of putting together a "cutting list" for all the components that I've used in the ULC. As ever, comments, abuse, and insults all welcome Cheers Steve

Steve, superb build. May I suggest contacting the Editor of the IPMS (UK) Members' magazine, this would make an interesting article, and it's different!
