I`ve been involved in a `snowball` build (where one person does a certain section of the build then passes it on). I was the first to have the trailer where I converted the Revell six axle tanker into a tipper. As I passed this on on Monday, I`ve been able to get back to building the concrete mixer. The first photo is of the water tank and drum runners and the second is it mocked in place.

I`m not sure just why I`m plowing on with this thread as nobody on here appears to have the slightest interest in 1:24th trucks. This build feels like it`s taking forever. I can`t decide whether this bit is over-engineered or will it `tone down` when it has some paint on it

Hi Jim As Seb says, keeping going. I enjoy seeing the developments as you go along. I just don't have anything to add without repeating myself. They are truly impressive illustrations of the art - irrespective of the subject which I enjoy too by the way! I admire your creativity and willingness to tackle what to most would be daunting projects.

Thanks for the comments guys, they are ALWAYS appreciated.
Following advice from those who know what they are talking about regarding concrete mixers, there are a couple of major modifications coming up. The cage is too high and the `pigs ear`should go into the barrel, so it`s a case of back to the drawing board.
I don`t know if any of you have done any building with LED`s - I certainly havn`t, but there are some being used on another forum and I`m going to have a go at adding some to this build. I`ve bought all the parts and the idea is to use one hidden LED and feed ALL the front lamps with fibre optic cable. That`s the IDEA anyway, whether or not it will work is anybody`s guess!

I have an interest in 1/24 trucks, in fact I have a loft full of them. It's not my loft, it belongs to my mother-in-law, because mine is full of other things. And she doesn't even live there: she's in a care home. I live a strange life. Anyway, much as I admire people like yourself who have knowledge and skill, and use them to obvious good effect, I tend not to comment because I don't feel qualified to do so. I will buy a model because I like the look of how I imagine it will turn out. I know nothing about the real thing, so I am at the mercy of the kit manufacturer regarding detail and accuracy. I'm not particularly skilful, but I've seen worse (even on competition tables) so I'm not ashamed to display my work, but I know that comments like "that's the wrong shape" and "this bit's in the wrong place" will be bandied about. If I post a compliment about your truck, I will almost certainly find that you then issue the same criticism of your own work, as you have done above, making me feel a bit stupid. So don't worry if no-one comments - it means you're doing all right.

Thank you for your post madmalc, it was very honest and interesting.
I like positive comments (who doesn`t) but over the years I`ve taken on board much CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, without taking offence at it, and feel that I`ve greatly benefited from it. I have no time for rivet counters and strangely - their work is not often seen. But with this particular build much advise has come from someone who worked with mixers and if they don`t know what`s right or wrong, then who does?
(as for the loft full of 1:24th trucks - there isn`t a sale in the offing is there?)

A sale? Probably, one day. But I'm not dead yet.
