Hi all! I've only been on this forum for a short while and my initial experience has led me to writing this short intro as my first and only post, in which I was seeking help, has not been responded to, sadly. Oh well, onwards and upwards I guess! My situation is that I am a returning modeller, having not lifted modelling knife or opened a kit box for nearly 35 years! My background is all about aviation but modelling went by the wayside in favour of photography, travelling and work! Oh, and family! As you will see from my only thread (Aircraft- "AD-4NA .. etc") I am in the process of attempting a couple of machines that are dear to my heart. I'd appreciate help from all of you hardened modellers! And finally my forum name - "Peach38336"? Its a hybrid from the callsign of the 128th TRTS at Georgia ANG which I visit back in the 1980s to see another love - the Thud - up close! The numbers are the serial of a machine I saw there when I was taken out to the runway edge to take a few shots! Here's hoping for some contact! Thanks. Martin http://www.fromthelens.co.uk

Hi Martin,
Sorry you've not had a response, it can get a bit quiet in here sometimes, and for myself I'm afraid I missed it - apologies, but welcome on board now.
As you your queries: if you've sorted the drop tank to your satisfaction then that's good, as I'm no expert on the Skyraider. But for varnish, I tend to use acrylics. I'm still to some extent experimenting, it's almost like my modelling is all to find the perfect clear coat. :-) However, if you can get Winsor and Newton art products reasonably easily I recommend their "Galleria" as my current clear coat of choice. Can't comment on the Humbrol Satin you mention, as I don't use it.
Good luck with the modelling, and welcome back - you're finding a few changes in the hooby I imagine?

Thanks Mike, I appreciate the advice. Yes, the drop tank issue is solved. I am now at the stage in which virtually all the painting is done. It was a voyage of discovery as I invested (all of £15!) in a Badger 200 airbrush which was new for me. When I last put a brush down such things were just in my dreams! The end result with the Skyraiders is not perfect but like all things I learnt as I went! BRgds, Martin

Thanks Nick. I avoid FB et al so I guess I'm restricted. Never mind I'll get there somehow. M
