Hi all New to this forum ,have been building models for over 50 yrs and would like to ask a question. When airbrushing a model is it best to prime the plastic 🤔before spraying the enamel paint. I prefer enamels as I find it does not dry tip. But do l really need any primer.
Any thoughts please

There isn't a right or a wrong answer to your question. Some modellers will insist that a primer coat is essential whilst others will argue that it's not. I'm definitely in the prime-before-paint camp but all my experience is with acrylics so I'm not sure that's entirely helpful to you.

If you're using enamels, a primer coat isn't usually necessary, unless you find that *not* priming causes a problem, or if you need to level or smooth the surface of the model. However I find the poorer adhesion of acrylics necessitates a primer coat, particularly if airbrushing.
