My Badger airbrush (20+ years old) has started splattering. At first I assumed that it had something to do with the paint thickness or possibly some inconsistency in the paint thickness but it does it with all paints including Alclad. It appears to be caused by a build up of paint on the side (not the bottom???) of the nozzle which when big enough gets blown off in blobs. I thought that it might be due to a bent needle but it happens at all settings. Any ideas please as it is driving me mad

Hi John, might be the teflon washer that goes under the spray head as this can deform quite easily,or even residule paint in the nozzle, try soaking the head in solvent and giving it a good clean. Hope this helps Drew

Hi John,
Take a good look through a strong lens at the tip - the very end of the nozzle where the needle emerges. They are prone to developing small splits which can produce exactly the symptoms you describe. The tips are available as spares and are - theoretically - replaceable.

Actually it was more than paint in the nozzle - when I looked at the nozzle, as suggested by Ian, I found no trace of any splitting but it was immediately obvious that there was a strand of something (hair?) in there and in trying to remove this I discovered that there was a lot of solidifed gunge in there, despite being under the impression that I was doing a decent job of cleaning. It now works properly. Drew and Ian - Thank you very much
