Hi all, Does anyone know whether there is any current source for Testors acryl paints in the UK? I notice that they are sponsoring the current series of Airkraft (sic) Guides in SAMi, often accompanied by full page back cover ads for the paint range. I know SAMi call themselves 'international', but I'd still say they're a British mag, & it seems strange that a major sponsors products aren't available over here!! They're also really good paints & its annoying not to be able to get them! Keith

if you finda source in the UK, will you lemme know, too ?.........please ?........either bottles or pouches.
if you like acrylics, have you tried Xtracrylics ?.......they're pretty easy to hand detail with and airbrush very nicely.............however, i think the Testors range is bigger and maybe a little bit more durable.

I started using xtracrylic more or less as soon as they were introduced. I used to like them, but now think they are awful! I don't know whether they 'go off' in the bottle more than other acrylics or what, but when I first started using them I could freehand spray 72nd scale camouflage with no trouble. However, on the last model I finished a fortnight ago (72nd scale Firebrand) I opened a brand new bottle of sky for the undersides & it was hopeless, wouldn't spray at all, kept puddling (which suggests it was too thin) but was also more or less instantly clogging the nozzle (suggesting it was too thick!) So I managed to find a 15 year old bottle of aeromaster (by far the best acrylic I've ever used) - there was only a small quantity left in the bottom which was really thick. I thought there was no chance whatever it would spray. But it did, beautifully! Much the same thing happened on the top surface camo - brand new bottles of Slate grey & Dark sea grey -wouldn't spray at all. So I had to again resort to my last stocks of 15 year old aeromasters - & got pencil thin demarcation lines with them! So, I'm afraid a good few quids worth of xtracrylics made their way into the bin! And it was because the Aeromaster sprayed so well I want to find Testors again - as IIRC they made the Aeromaster paint! (and the Testors pouches were fantastic when they were available!)

Aeromaster Acrylics are what started me down the road of using nothing but acrylic modelling paints..........and what do they do ? ........get discontinued thus far the Testors Model Master Acryl line is and has been the next best thing............alas, no supplier in the UK Gunze Sangyo acrylics have also been (for me anyways) pretty user friendly with nothing but good results.................alas, MDC are the only suppliers with a limited range........... i'm sorry to hear of your disappointment with Xtracrylics.....thus far, i've had no disappointments, but thanks for the heads up, Keith............i'll be wary on their next application. Tamiya's been a pretty good fill in, however, they're color choices without any FS references leaves me without some color matches i've needed............. ........so the struggle goes on to find the quality, durability and range of the long gone Aeromaster Acrylics

All
I seem to remember this thread from the the dim and distant past.
Apparently Ceative Models will soon start shipping the Testors Paint Range to UK. Nothing on the website yet other than an empty heading. Standing by..........
