Had our Salisbury meet last night, and the Romsey guys came across. 2 of the models on display were metal finish, and the chap said it was foil!. Can somebody point me in the direction of "how to"

There's a nice article/review on the ARC (just search foil) of a RB-66 finished with kitchen foil.

Little Cars sell a foil adhesive, which is water-soluble, and can be brushed, or airbrushed, onto cooking foil, though you may find that wrapping foil, being thinner, is more suitable. It isn't easy to apply foil to a double curvature, like an engine cowling, and your surface must be immaculate, since the smallest flaw will show through. I recommend that, if you use foil, you should clean it, first, with white spirit; foil tends to have a slightly oily surface. Patience.

www.bare-metal.com/these folks produce what in my opinion is the industry standard for bare metal foil for anything natural metal (other than Alclad II) i have no idea who might be a UK supplier, maybe Hannants or Model-Precision or Little Cars, but it IS pretty great stuff.....comes in matt aluminum, polished aluminum, chrome & black ?..........i think. Like the Tamiya foil sheets (which are smaller) the stuff is self adhereing and quite delicate to work with.........however, with the 4 P's.......any and all things are possible......... if you want metal that's really metal, this is the stuff......... they also make a surgical stainless steel panel scriber tool which, again in my opinion, has few equals.......... oh, yeah..........the BMF stuff has complete instructions as to it's application on each sheet........

I sa those as well, many moons ago I used bare metal foil on a B26, Its a bit expensive, but its self adhesive and will follow complex compound curves. as I know you stick to 1./72 it might not be too bad. you can obtain it form little cars or cammett, if you are not going to gloscster then I,d be willing to get some for you. pm me if you want some- i use it for masking canopies, so I need some as well. might be a tad expensive on 32 scale kits though. ps - I did like your tornado - nice. regards - roger

Cheers Roger.
I'm planning ahead for my T5 lightning (ETPS of course) and have an idea for a diorama. Having just finished the Sea Fury, it was a pain in the **** to paint, and stank to heaven!. Will be going to Gloucester, just waiting for directions from Peter.
