Colin, many thanks for the 4 pics - just superb ! All, Now that we have more than just an idea of the recce fit other questions crop up - like if we can only model a S Mk 1 or if there is also a S Mk 2 possible ? Any candidate for a modeling article of for more gen ? As a small contribution completely off topic I can offer something for masochists: hyperscale.com/features/2004/rb45crb_1.htmRolf

Rolf, Glad you got the four I sent to you. Have you got the seven from John? Looking at all of them, there seems to be enough info to do either an S1 or S2, question is, what's everybody going to do? My preference is 12 Squadron one in grey/green, 1/48th, everybody else? By the way, I posted a website, previously on this thread, having revisited it, it is a very good resource for the Buccaneer, and has good modelling pages as well. www.blackburn-buccaneer.co.ukWell worth a look before tackling the kit... By the way Rolf, that RB 45 is nice....... Colin

Colin,
yes, thanks - got those from John too - good I just changed to a more up to date computer with bigger harddrive......
Anyhow - Buccaneer not for now - too many German recce birds and recce V-Bombers in the pipeline already and in spite of retirement the output is still hampered by stacks of non-modeling pastimes.
Maybe this thread will yield some more data, I hope - even if distracting from "production"

John,
Got the photos, many thanks! If my name was Alan W Hall I'd be reaching for the balsa wood, but as it's not (although he was a significant early modelling influence for me) I shall attempt to do it with plastic card and Milliput.
809 Sqn, overall EDSG with red-white/blue roundels seems favourite at the moment, but watch this space ...

Good afternoon, The SAAF used a camera pod on their Buccs for low level oblique photography. It was mounted in the bombay, and the doors opened before filming. The pilot aimed the camera with a gadget fitted to the side of the cockpit and then pushed the tit to start. A very good description of its use in action is given in 'From Fledging to Eagle" page 407 on, by Brig Gen Dick Lord. The Buc was fitted with full chaff and flare dispensers as well as 2 active radar jamming pods. Is the FAA's pod capable of oblique photgraphy, if it is I'll definetly get one, although the SAAF are still not very forthcoming about the type of pod they used.

Ollie,
Many thanks, but check the dates on most of the posts - the Heritage item you quote has only just been released, and if I'm not mistaken was brought about by this very thread - well, I'd like to think so, anyway.
Nevertheless, thanks for the thought.
