After going to the Nottingham Model Railway Exhibition with Nick, Spike and Ian I ended up trying something new...... I bought a model train.... WOoooooop WOOooooooP! ;D Its a white metal and brass model of a crane thingy and a carraige from Finecast.... Now I have always stayed away from "metal" models for some reason, but I am actually liking this kit.... The reason why I bought this kit was simple..... I thought it looked cute and had carracture..... (yes this is true, Nick was there and he can confirm I have officially lost the plot!) But to redeam a some of the "Lad" points i have decided to add a little something extra to the model.... For starters there is a flickering light for the fire box (short clip below) The other was a smoke emiter to replace the existing chimney, unfortunatley the 12volt source I have just doesnt have enough "umph!" to power it.....

Nice one Paul, it's looking good, especially the glow effect in the firebox. Maybe you should contact Vic about your problem with the smoke genie? ... I'll email you his contact details.

Ill have to drop him aline. Then tell us all about it !! What I'd like to know is does the smoke genie get hot - or warm enough to melt plastic? Rich

Rich The one I have does get hot to touch, but it is surrounded with a rubberl like material... The guy who sold it me said they are suitable for plastic bodies too....

Ayup Paul,
I have to say that looking at the model last night at the club meeting and seeing the flickering light in the smoke box, it looked brilliant. Well done mate for trying something new and I look forward to seeing the finished loco in it's diorama.

Were getting there...... Ive got lots of detail like rust etc to add to the train yet, and I have the rear carraige to build too..... I picked up some other bits to go with, tree, stone wall, water tower and a van. I thinks this will be the final layout of the diarama. ?

Looking good, I think you get a signal by the side of the tracks with LED's of course ;D, that would finish it off nicely.

Is it a steam-powered self levitating thingy? The crane looks as if it could pick up the loco...... Sanguin
