This looks good. Machined wheels eh, you'll have to show us how to do that.

Lovely, what are they made out of, and do you use a lathe?

The wheel is made from PTFE (I think, bought it a few years ago). Turned it on a lathe. I've also got a milling machine for making scratchbuilt parts. I've been looking at the possiblity of making a CNC machine to produce parts for various models I'm making.
Cheers

That's a fantastic looking conversion, can't wait to see a bit more of that. Have you considered writing an article for the IPMS (UK) magazine? ... what a way to advertise truck modelling by having a truck model or conversion in as many editions as possible.

Thanks Nick, I did an article for Truck Model World a few years ago on the scratchbuilt crane I built. Don't know if you remember it ? It won its class at IPMS show at donnington in 1992.

Its (ready) Polytetrafloroethylene!!!! You could use Acrylic rod. If you look on e-bay there's places that stock it. Just found one at www.btowstore.com

Yes I do remember, and outstanding it was too. Hopefully, the Truck SIG will gather momentum here on the forum and it's good to know that modellers such as yourself are showing your work here. Incidentally, why not place a couple of pics of your crane here on the forum?
