OK I have been commisioned to build a Scania 124L for a local company.
The available kit is the Italeri Scania 144L which can be rebadged and bodged. However someone told me that the cabs are different.
Having had a good look at plenty on the A1 yesterday, and compared photographs of each on here I can't tell the difference. Can anyone enlighten me?

Ayup Wolfie ... differences are mainly engine variants although there are differences in cab design. Check out your local Scania agent and do a quick 'Google'. I believe the best kit to go for would be the Italeri Scania R144L 'Millennium' #3805

I went into the Scania dealer in Leeds today to pick their brains.
The present R-series known in the trade as the 5 series has two types of cabs, badged as the P123 or R123 where 123 is the BHP figure.
Apparently the 4-series also had an R or a P cab but its NOT clear from the number so a 124 is a 12 litre 4-series and a 144 is a 14 litre 4-series. They do tell me that the 124 and 144 cabs were the same so I should be OK using the 144 kit.
Having done a succesful conversion I am now full of ideas to make all sorts of local trucks which is going to require cab surgery so I am going to need to know this stuff. The Scania website has some great plans of the cabs for the present series, but naff all on anything previous.

Went into the West Riding's main dealer this aft as I happened to be passing Normanton (well ish lol) and pledged my case. A very helpful man gave me loads of brochures and stuff then took me on a guided tour of Scania cabs in the depot. I now know what its all about. Wolfie

Seems as You have solved the problems. 124, 144 and 164 was all delivered with diffrent kind of cabs, and HP output from the 12, 14 or 16 litres engines. So Your right, if Your friends 124 looks like the 144, You should go on. The diffrences, are either width, or length, and that is very visible. Otherwise it is the option list that differs.
