Ayup folks. As a dyed in the wool truck builder of many years standing, I'm really pleased that the truck SIG is starting to show promise, and of course this particular board on the forum is doing really well.
So, in order to promote the truck modelling further, I'm prepared to issue a challenge. My favourite part of truck building, is not the construction, or the painting ... but the weathering process. A properly weathered truck model not only looks good, it brings the model alive. There will be a prize and it will be something special, more on that later.
I intend the build to start on January 1st and end November 1st 2008. I intend to write an article for the IPMS (UK) Magazine and detail the contest, along with the finished models. If you are a truck modeller and would like to take part, please email me with the details and I'll setup a thread on here.

OK truck modellers, just a quick reminder about my challenge to build and weather a truck. The challenge will start on January 1st 2008 and end on November 1st 2008, which should give you plenty of time.
Defininition ... Weathering - to show the realistic effects of age, dust, sand, rain, sun, abuse and use on a vehicle.
Prize ... There will be a prize from my personal stash for the model judged as being the overall winner, it's worth having, further details on the start date.
Judging ... The judges of the challenge will be you, the entrants of the build, I'll post a poll here on the forum and we'll have a popular vote.
Registration... You will need to register your build with me via email or PM, I'll setup a build room on the forum as and when I receive your registration. When registering your build, I require the following ...
(1) Scale
(2) Subject (e.g. wrecker, tanker, flatbed, etc.)
(3) Kit used as donor
That's it. I will join in the build but my entry will not be judged. So, best of luck, and let's have those entries.
Here's the rules ...
(1) The model must be your own work.
(2) The model may be any period, any scale, civilian or military.
(3) The model may be OOB or converted. You may scratch build components or use a commercial items. The only restriction is that a commercial kit must be used as a basis for your build, this is purely to level the playing field.
(5) This must be a new build, a model which has been previously built or part built or entered into any previous competition is disqualified from entry into this build.
(6) Have fun and enjoy the build.
