I'm gonna show a bit of ignorance here As I went straight onto artics, I have never had anything to do with 8 wheelers. So I'm not very familiar with them. A couple of questions... Are they all double drive at the back? And are they all twin steer at the front? Where can I find drawings? And on KFSs website, theres a generic twin steer front axles set which it states "Is not compatible with old style 8 wheelers nor modern ones" So what IS it useful for?

Not all 8 wheelers are double drive. As far as I know they need to be twin steer to get round the corners. What sort of drawings are you after ? Not noticed the statement on KFS site about suitability of twin steer front axle set. You might have to change the axles to suit the model your making

Wolfie,Not all Eight leggers are double drives and not all are 8X4s some military and specials can be driven all wheels and some only have single drive axles, it depends on what you want the vehicle to do for you all ours were doubles to help out in winter, night trunk often found snow conditions and a double drive usually got us through. The Ackerman principal dictates that the two front axles MUST both steer or the vehicle will not turn. If you want an old time (my Time) eight legger I did some drawings in Scale Models Mag some years ago which I can let you have I also have lots of manufacturers drawings of Volvo, MAN and a few others you could use. Why don't you phone Howard and ask him about his set. Ted

For a good base, try to find one of the old Revell Simbas, it's an 8x8 airport fire truck with the front two axles being twin steer.
