Ok as you know I like a challenge and I have been asked to build a wagon like the ones on Ice road truckers, but to use a truck I fancy building. I have been looking at doing the Scania R series T cab conversion from KFS and one of the lads in the office said why not do it with the Longline conversion as well. If I do this longline conversion on the T cab conversion do I have to extend the chassis or can it be done without doing this Any advice appreciated Pat J.

Would have thought so. The T cab is set behind the front axle, plus the length of the longline cab would put the back of cab over the back axle. I think it would look better with a double drive or tag axle at back anyway. Don't know how much you would have to extend the chassis by. Maybe talk to Howard at KFS.

just been watching some more on youtube, abosuletly fantastic..... these guys are the main company for ice roads.... www.rtl.ca/index.php theres a few pickies on there of some of the rigs. If you search on youtube for "ice road truckers" there are 5 parts to a video on there. the fith shows this massive tractor unit towing this tank. its towards the end, a 10 wheeler tractor unit with plow.... that would make a nice build for some one..

Right I have been trawling the net for Italeri Scania donor kits to do this and dependant on if someone does a swap with me for the kit I,ve put in my link, I have found 2 possible Italeri donor kits.
Either the Scania R500 V8 which I know I can use but I have also found a Scania 164L Topclass 580 CV but I'm not sure if this is a viable kit to do the conversion.
I have spoken to Howard at KFS and have ordered the T cab conversion kit, next up will be the Scania 6x4 suspension set but I don't think I'll be doing the longline conversion this time round. I think the T cab conversion and suspension/chassis conversion will be enough this time. Although I will be ordering some of the proper metal wheels the same as Fatty and Spike have used on their builds. The paint job is already in my head so there will be three projects on the go for SMW 08. W&G at the movies, my show rod model and this one.

Pat, why a Scania? ... Kenworth, Volvo / White, Western Star and Peterbilt, they're the ones to use and they look the business!

Oddly enough I was going to do a Volvo like the one TJ got to drive on the TV documentary. But I really like the look of the Scania and fancy having a go at the conversion. Plus it will be something different. I was trawling the web the other day and found a picture of a Scania driving on the ice roads but forgot to copy the pic and write down the link. Also I can put it in the weathered truck build as well. Cheers Pat J
