Apart from a total scratchbuild like Paul or the expensive KFS items are there any other manufacturers of 1/24 plant/machinery kits. If I don't put what I'm looking for on the low loader I'm looking for something else to put on there.

There used to be some pretty good 1/24th Tractors, which were diecast kits.I think they were made by ROS.

Pat, have a look through those TMW issues you've just acquired, especially the web page section.

I think First Gear do Bulldozers in 1/25th scale but they're expensive.

I think First Gear do Bulldozers in 1/25th scale but they're expensive. and flippin' heavy, they're die-cast and not models, (being pre-assembled) something like that would be almost double the weight of a resin model of the same size.

thanks mate... Back to the topic at hand, a friend of mine here in Australia has made an authorised 1:24 scale Kobelco excavator, it's a lot bigger than the KFS item and is set to go into production within the next few weeks, there will be 50-75 items made so it really is a limited edition, there are future plans for a drill attachment to go with it. Here's the master model, it's been slightly refined since this photo was taken (october last year) but this will give you a good idea, if you're interested pm/email me and i'll give you his details.

THATS 1/24?? Wow yes, 1:24 (as are the trucks behind it), it's the biggest in the Kobelco range, after talking to the guy who's making it today he's confirmed that they're going into production shortly. There are literally dozens of white metal parts (the tracks, grab handels etc) and heaps of resin that's very nicely cast.
