Does anyone know of a UK retailer of Airmodel vacforms? I notice they have a Varsity and a Valetta on their website which look very nice but, apart from a direct import, how else can you get hold of one of these?

Simon,
if you don't succeed and if not in a hurry -
might try getting one via a member living just across the border in Germany and bring it along to SMW in November.
pm me upon definitive decision - will be away for a forthnight from saturday on.

Sorry I can't advise on any U.K source - didn't even know they were still available. I've done the Varsity T.1 and have the Valetta to do, the Valetta kit (I have) needs a Wellington to canibalise to get wings, engines and undercarriage. A fair bit of work involved and dimensions don't come out too close to service machines, but it can look good so don't be put off. Here is a photo of mine. Dad-1

That is one nice Varsity and a good reason for doing the kit! The thing that I notice from the Airmodel advert is that they are really cheap. Okay, you get the basics but thats all you should really expect with a vac kit. For how much they cost I think it is well worth getting both, if only for the loft insulation value! The killer is the freight cost. Bearing in mind that you can get both kits for under £20 then the freight is a bit over £10!

Simon, Is that freight/post just for overseas? You're in the Bomber Command SIG and we have 3 members in Germany - one Till Huber runs a small trading shop/stand and can still do Mach2 Valiants at 45 Euros ...... I don't know if Till is coming to Telford this year, but I'm certain a personal courier can be arranged as £10 seems one hell of a lot for P&P. I'll send Tills email address on a direct email to you, it's possible he may not trade with them, but our European contacts should enable us to do something.

contact him online, Ive ordered direct from him before, I did a group order for a few of the What if? boys. Hes pretty good as far as service goes, he sent what i ordered quite quickly so no faults regarding that. normaly better to order in bulk from the UK, get togeather with a mate or two and make the ten quid postage charge feel a little less steep
If i remember correctly thou he prefers dealing via paypal for orders out side of Germany.

Thanks for the info gents. I have e-mailed both Till and Airmodel - Matthias Simon. Matthias confirmed the postage would be 8 euros, so about £6 but it turns out that he includes insurance cover so I don't think the postage cost is that high, especially as we regularly pay £3.50 a time and still have to wait ages! Till agrees that the saving for me - buying via him - would not be worth the effort for him (or anyone else) so I wil order directly. They are nice looking kits though!

Hi Alfie,
Last thing I knew about these (I admit quite a while ago) they were all sold and I didn't think another run was expected. This is a much more accurate rendering than the Airmodel, OK it costs more, but you're paying for the additional qualities so a good buy for any 'Varsity' project.
