Yeah...... anchors...... hmmmm!
When i was cutting out the sheets to make the layers i thought to my self that i would need to cut out some holes etc for the anchors....... guess what? I forgot. lol
As i dont want to cut into the bow i shall have the anchors on there but they will on the surface not inset......
...the hole is in the front of the bow, what more do you want lol

Hi Fatty. Looking real good matey, as for the anchors, you could just paint on the hole effect and fix anchor to this with a pin or something. Would not look out of place I think. Nice detail and will be nice to see it when its finished.

Hes quite good at this isn't he. Yes, but he's a modest sort of chap, I'm attempting to negotiate a book deal on his behalf as he's mentioned he wants to write a modelling book based on all his creations this year. Incidentally, I'm only kidding, but I wonder if it's viable? ;D

The smoke stacks are in place now, just a little bit of filling and sanding here and there on them.....

Sorry ooops, those are the only bits that are taken from my model spares stash. i did make some and they looked ok, just didnt look 100%. i drilled out four corner holes, cut to join them and made a hole and then filed the sides out to make a square hole.

Hello Paul, An awesome project, to say the least! What materials and method did you use to make the handrails please? I note you said you had to trim the tops of the staunchions off at one stage. I'm making an R/C model of the 'Atlantic Conveyor' in 1/144 scale and I can't find any etched brass hand rails to suit. Your method may well be my salvation.

Morning,
Ive used garden wire and fishing line.
I took the garden wire and stripped off the plastic coating, then for each stantion I drilled a pilot hole for it to sit in. When putting in the wire I made sure they were over sized so there was an excess sticking upward.
I then tied one end of the fishing line to the first stantion and ran it along all the others till the end stantion, which then i did one loop around the stantion and whilst keeping a little tension to the line added a few drops of glue to each point the fishing line touches the stations.
This was then repeated for the second line (and so on for 3rd, 4th etc)
Then once they have dryed you can then trim down the stantions with some clippers but be carfull as they can "ping" off and do come sharp if they hit you, best to where glasses or eye protection.
Paul

Paul, Brill, thanks. I'd have never have thought of that, simple and straightforward. And here's me trying to go the hi-tech route..... I'll give your method a try on part of the superstructure and see how it goes.

Thats a great idea fatty on the railings, I used to use brass and solder them , but that sounds a better way in that scale and cheaper . Nice going ;D.
