Hello All,
I am Colin Shipton-Knight and I kind of run the Recce SIG. I have to admit to being a life long aircraft modeller.....
However I feel myself being drawn to the 'Dark side of the force'......
I am hoping to make my first ship model, other than HMS Victorious a lot of years ago, of course.....
So I thought I would consult with you all.............
I would like to make a model of a 'Spy' trawler, it being in keeping with the Recce, ethos.
But I know nothing about what models are available, and how to do sea dioramas...
I would appreciate any help you could give me...........
Any body interested in doing a small diorama, with periscope peeking out of the sea..?
love to hear your thoughts.
Colin

Colin, I believe the 'Snowberry' was a trawler?

Hi Colin I seem to remember Revell did a model a few years back of a Soviet spy trawler, something like 144 scale. Probably still around on ebay or the second hand kit shops. I'm sure with a bit of help from Google you could come up with some photos to get an idea of what these vessels looked like. As for the sea, have a look at the tips & tricks section on our website www.finewaterline.com it's intended for smaller scale ships than this but the principal is the same, you just make it lumpier! Snowberry was a canadian crewed Flower Class corvette, so wouldn't be suitable Mike

Try www.kingkit.co.uk they have the north sea trawler for 10.99. As John said likely to be 'basic' but with some research and a bit of scratchbuilding would I'm sure make a pretty convincing replica. Mike
