Hi Guys,
I have a painting question.
I want to paint an aluminium part with Alclad paints, the finish however has to be pretty durable.
Can anyone advise what primer & top coat I should use, I'll be using Alclad primer, but can I put this straight onto the aluminium or should I use something else as a base coat.
I was thinking of lacquer for the top coat.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Alclad do a specific Clear coat for their paints. Must say I've never used it but it is apparently quite good.

I would be tempted to use an etch primer - Halfords do a decent one in a rattle can. I have used it a lot on diecast models.
You can then coat this with the Aclad promer etc..

Thanks chaps!
I thought I'd need an etch primer, so I'll have a look at the Halfords one, I was going to "liberate" some from work but I think it may be a little harsh for my needs as we use it on armour plate!!!
