A recurring theme by shareholders in Johnson.

On sale in local Sainsburys for £1.20 (I've already got a couple of bottles). New 'Home Bargains' store just opened in Leeds with 25 or more bottles on the shelf so shops are not just selling old stock!

Yes they are. There are plenty of cash & carry centres that have quite large stocks and some of the supermarkets still have central stock which they are shedding at low prices.
SCJ have not made any Klear since September and are not going to make any more, so while stocks may be around, they will eventually disappear.
It's worth noting that the bottles Klear comes in can go brittle and split along the seams. If you're keep Klear for any length of time it might be an idea to decant it into a better container.

'AHH', a new name for the same. Wonder if it will be the same, as they seem to add something else when changing brand names, this new name sounds expensive . Maybe good for Lacquering balsa planes as well !!!! ;D

The new product is more than a simple change of name. This thread on the Britmodeller site discusses the new "Pledge with Klear shine". As the opening picture shows the revised product is opaque rather than clear and has a lemon smell More importantly the conlcusion reached it that the new product is not as good as traditional Klear. www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=22563&st=0

You can brush it but use a wide brush at least a quater inch flat but don't overload the brush, spread it out as far as it will go, if you leave it thick it will run, You will do well to dispense it into a small jar like an airbrush jar to use it, it dries very quickly so don't leave the jar lid off or it will skin. you can spray it straight from the jar but only apply thin coats and remember it is NOT a gloss varnish it is a floor covering and we use it to protect any work put in to the model. Thanks for the tips Ted, I think i got the wrong idea about this stuff originally. lol. I thought it was used as a gloss varnish which sealed in decals etc.
Basically i have a scania which has a very glossy bumper due to the paint and the white cab was just sprayed with halfords nissan artic white. I put decals on it but started thinking after it that the white isn't as glossy looking as it should be and heard about clear being non reactive and good regarding brush marks.
Just to pick your brain again, I have a man cab just sprayed, to get a real metallic sort of shiny look would you recommend a clear acyrilic spray (which i have for sealing decals), or klear? I'm a relative beginner so perhaps the spray?

I'm behind with this thread so some of this may have already been posted... Yes you can use it as a gloss varnish, you just need more than one coat of it, keep putting Klear on until you get the gloss finish you want. And it seals in decals. One tip (though it sounds strange) is if you brush it on you might get some tiny bubbles on the surface. Just gently blow on them and they tend to disappear. Of course if you've got too much Klear on then you might make it run! I used Klear on this: www.flickr.com/photos/neilmodels/3518307930/in/set-72157617851418377/

If you have used enamels then I can recommend Revell #1 gloss varnish sprayed on in a thin coat, it is not a wood varnish so it won't yellow in time. I have used it quite a bit recently and it makes a perfect finish if brushed or sprayed, did my Pickfords Tanker with it. as on TMW forum.
Yes Klear will cover any finish you put on but to make a gloss finish you have to build up several layers to get a good shine but it is never as good as a gloss varnish.
Not sure what decal covering you have so can't advise.
