Nige, use a piece of clear acetate, either from a model shop or ... go to your local supermarket, grab your favourite apple pie, or steak pie or anything in a box with a clear acetate window. After you've devoured the food, remove the acetate window from the box, cut to size and fit to the model.

;D Hi Nick ;D
In a way this is me experimenting with the klear as I got it ages and ages ago and wanted to see what it can do and how far it will cover.
If it doesn't work it will be plan 'B' with the tonnes of clear sheet I have amassed over the years stuffing my face and removing kids toys from packaging.
I have seen folk work with the klear and always meant to give it a go on my 1/72 stuff too like the scammell recovery bedford dio.

Ayup Nige, I have to admit that I often have the easy solution to a problem at hand, yet go looking for the hard way just to prove it can be done.

Putting the bits together now after painting Got some fiddly wee bits to add and detail plus I have to figure out about how to make decals of the JG73 Markings in 1/24 scale. By the way Nick I ended up compromising as I added a thin bit of accetate on to the Klear to give it backing and to allow the thickness of the Klear to form. Only have to see if it will set clear too over the next few days. I am really chuffed with how it is looking now. and will be getting on with the VW bus version over the next few days too. NEARLY THERE !!!! Nige

Hi folks Got a big kick out of getting this one done as it is the first one I have finished including decals for a while. Amazing how work and life gets in the way of modelling isn't it! Added some scratch interior detailing not included in kit including sun visors and rear view mirror door handles, window winder, seat belts and clips Some home made decals for the JG 73 though I cheeted and just printed of on paper. Painted the tac signs with white poster paint The inspiration photo of the real vehicle though in single green Rear view Hope you like. Nige :-)--< :-)--< :-)--< :-)--<

Thanks Wolfie
Have got the bus still to complete and I am going to also start a 1/24 Merc G Wagon for a Bundeswehr campaign on another site.

Occurs to me Nig that you could tidy up that unit symbol a bit by cutting some thin strips off plain white decal paper and arranging them in said pattern. A bit fiddly but would just finish it off. Then you could find a couple of numbers off an old decal sheet no probs.

Hi lonewolf
It is something I might try to do with some white letraset (which I have) on clear decal sheet. If I work it right I could use various curves from letters to build up the shapes. Might be easier to place the rub down using a toothpic so I can see the shape form. I suppose I would have to fix it with a spray of varnish too before I put it near water.
With my hamfisted fingers I know I couldn't cut the strips from decal sheet. The blue JG emblum in paper was hard enough to try and get the curves, without success. I need to clear out my shed to find my letra set under all the junk in there so that will be a while. The poster paint was a quick fix but should rub off easy. I want to buy an A4 white decal sheet to print the emblum on the work's printer but I need to figure out enough of the other stuff I need for more models to make best use of the sheet. I need number plates and unit markings for the british stuff, german builds and that US 4x4 I still have no unit markings on.
Since I have only just managed to finish one model in years I need to keep going to make sure I get round to trying proper decals.
