Hi All , I thought that would grab you. So what is Heads Up , to me it is making notes on the model instruction sheets , if I find any faults or alternative ways of assembling the kit. I also note any future alterations to the kit that I feel will enhance the kit by altering or making my own scratchbuilt parts . So how many produce Heads Up but never think to let us know their findings cheers ian

I do a similar thing, but with post-its. As I'm building, the get stuck to the instruction sheet or inside the box (even to the model itself!). After the build, and if I'm not too lazy, it gets copied into a note book I keep or written up in a word document....
And then I forget about it completely. One of these days, I'm going to set up a database and store it all properly in a searchable format. Trouble is, that takes time out of modelling and since I work in database design all day, the bus-man's holiday doesn't often appeal.

Blimey - how organised. I normally simply slap my forehead in the style of Homer Simpson and think to myself that I should have done something different.
I must admit I have started keeping a notebook of techniques that work like a simple wa of replicating aircraft exhaust colours. Nothing magical but I find either using metallic paint for new exhauset for for heavily used I tend to simply paint them matt blackand then dry brush little wood brown and pale grey on the very edges. Not sure why I wrote it down as clearly I can remember it!

I find that the mere act of writing something embeds it in the memory more. Many's the time I've written a shopping list and forgotten to take it with me, but writing it has created a memory.

I must admit the other thing I find myself doing is putting pictures of my desired modeling subject on the wall.
I recently completed a Challenger 2 for a friend of mine and he gave me a load of photos of the vehicle in question. After printing them out on A4 I then stuck them up all around my workspace much to the annoyance of SHMBO as I tend to perch on the end of the dining table.
Worked though
