One of the members oin the Truck Model World Forum has posted this...
i've been busy getting my models ready for truckfest this weekend and i noticed on the roof and air deflector of my highline mortimer scania that the white paint has gone yellow in patches. the roof was first sprayed blue with halfords paints then the top of the roof and the air deflector painted with humbrol white and then lacquered with johnsons kleer. does anybody know what could have caused this i was going to stick another coat of white on top but the same will probablys just happen again. the model has never been exposed and has always been in the unit.
I thought it might have something to do with the Kleer but Alan says it looked fine when he completed the model about 12 months ago.
Anybody got any brilliant ideas?
TIA
Brian

Brian, 'Fatty' had a similar problem with his heavy hauler, but that was after using Halford's laquer changed the colour of the paint, he now has a pink truck. I'm sure Paul will see this post after he gets back from Shetland. Incidentally, has Howard Whitehead (KFS) offered any suggestions?

As requested, response from Howard Whitehead:
Your problem lies in the use of the Humbrol white. This stuff is famous for yellowing. I stopped using it for anything other than detail brushwork years ago.
Bear in mind you can't put anything over an enamel other than another enamel without having a barrier coat there first. So if you remove the Kleer to expose the enamel you cannot put Halfords white on without removing all of the Humbrol white otherwise it will react & pickle.
