Hi Fellow Modellers, Does anyone know where I can find out the colour scheme of Amy Johnson's Gull 6 (G-ADZO) which she flew to Capetown. I can only find a B&W pic on the web. The aircraft looks overall silver with black registration letters. I have seen a pic of a 'dinky' model of this aircraft that is overall yellow, but this may be for selling purposes, so I can't be sure. I am ready to start 'cutting plastic' but desperately need this information. Can anyone help ? Regards WeeMan

Hi I couldn't find much either, but just to add to the confusion, the aircraft looks to have white letters in this photograph www.aeroflight.co.uk/civil/amy.htmRegards, Alfie

Alfie, looking at the white lettering on the aircraft, it's a fairly high contrast to the aircraft body colour. I would suggest that the main colour of the aircraft was either light blue or yellow. The prop nose cone is a polished item, possibly chrome. The man standing to the right of the wing is wearing overalls, possibly white or cream, so, with those items identified, it may be possible to guess the aircraft body colour.

Hi Weeman, Dinky also produced a blue and silver Gull Six which is described as a commemorative model of her flight. This ties in nicely with Alfie's picture except that the reg is silver, not white. See here:http://www.vectis.co.uk/Page/ViewAuctionLots.aspx?AuctionId=227&DayNo=1&Section=3447&Sub=2 Have a look at lot 1481. Also, Peter Lewis in "British Racing and Record-breaking Aircraft" describes the Gull as pale blue. This usually refers to the fuselage. Wings were often silver but it seems that was taken for granted and frequently goes unmentioned. The other Dinky models don't mention Amy Mollison (as she was then) Hope that helps. Regards Dave

Patrick, thanks to Dave finding the Dinky bit I also found this link: www.boland-devries.nl/dinkies/Select 'Planes' from the second to top line and go to '060k-G Percival Gull Mono Plane (1936) Amy Mollison' on the left hand drop down menu. You will see the Dinky in full, dynamic 'not3D' colour, partly from above to show silver wings and pale blue registration with the pale blue fuselage.... There are also the other versions of this model on the menu, too. Aren't Dutch collectors wonderful? I hope this helps, Best wishes, John

to southsix, fastcat and sanguin, Many thanks for your replies. I am completely bemused now. everything appears to point to light blue fuselage, silver wings and registration. I am probably so far out with this, but I guess if there is no other evidence, I cannot be contradicted. I will have to 'bite the bullet' otherwise I will never get started. Anyway, thanks for your time Guys Regards Andy
