Nige, we need to chat, there's a lot of truck stuff in your stash which should be in mine ... ... would you consider thinning your stash a little?

Hi Nick
It is your fault I bought some of those ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Unimogs and Landies and the like !!!!!!
Just need to find your posts to remind me what the hell I should be doing with them. One of the palls at the model club has another two landies in 1/35 scale set aside for me from his stash thinning process.
I also remembered another couple of models that don't appear in the pics that were hidden from the mrs in the caravan till I could sneak them under her radar.
SO IT IS ALL YOUR FAULT REALLY NICK !!!!

That's good ... blame a poor defenceless old pensioner ... ;D ... it's your 1/24 truck stuff I'm after matey, especially the Iveco, Mercedes and a couple of others, and you have 2 Renault TN6 buses, no wonder the price has shot up you're hoarding them. So, you have a hiding place in the caravan eh? ... what's it worth for your missus not to get a phone call?

OK that has me worried. I now realise my stash is actually WAY bigger than yours by some margin and there are very few duplicates in mine as well.. I best get building on an industrial scale..

I showed your pics to Gillian and, after she recovered from the shock of finding you are not actually a trader, I actually got some 'Browny points' - my stash consists of the grand total of 7 models - 4 Wallace & Gromit kits, 2 Spitfires and the Heller Illustrious.
Mind, she still won't let me buy any more!

Well Nige thats quite a haul you have there. Makes my fifty odd(with etchings etc)very small. Guess your going to have to think hard what to keep and what to get rid of. Seeing how you got the Airfix one's cheaper and now the price has gone up its going to be hard to part with them!!!! . 'Nice stash by the way'. ;D

Hi Nick
Kaz knows all my bad habbits and even encourages them. At least she knows where I am of an evening.
Tim
Is your build rate a d**n site better than mine though ? How long would you have to live going by your current build rate ?
Brian
I am a trader of sorts ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, unfortunately trading one way only !!!!! Maybe I will have enough models in my stash to set up a model shop when I retire from the Council !!!!! If I were to be a trader both ways, knowing my luck I would make a big loss.
How many of your models are started but not finished ? If I add the half started kits and itchy scratchy stuff in progress, I could probably add another 50 to the 300 or so models currently in my stash.
I would love to have over 50 models completed and on display. One of these days.
Hi Foxy
Many of the models have some very remote sentimental or career motivated connection that means it would be hard to part with some. One or two were supposed family commissions like the two Revell Orianas that are stock piled because the in laws took the wife and her brother on a cruise when she was young. Hence Karen wants one built for her mother plus one for herself.
Given that all the Airfix stuff is still available (OK reboxed) I could only ever ask the going rate for a kit if I did ever wanted to sell them.
Hi Playtime
By 50, do you mean 50 models or you stopped collecting after the age of 50 ?

Ere Nige, just seen it's your birthday today. So, just in case you get a kit for your birthday and you need to make space in the stash, pull one of those Heller TN6 buses out, you know you want to?

Tim Is your build rate a d**n site better than mine though ? How long would you have to live going by your current build rate ? ;D Well up till the last few months my build rate has been as low as two a year whilst my buy rate since IPMS moved to Telford and I started attending the nationals has been increasing by leaps and bounds! I missed last years do due to the recession which gave me a rude awakening on exactly how bad my buying habit had become. I lost count of how many unmade kits I have in the loft at 350. Even if I go hog wild at my present age of 48 I think I have enough to last me til I climb in my box... Oh and the kits I am counting here do not include the figure collection hobby nor the model railway i have on the go.. Wonder if there is modelmaking in the afterlife?

How many of your models are started but not finished ? Err, none at the moment! I am sort of taking a break from the glue sniffing whilst I research my Illustrious to Indefatigable conversion ready for a start later in the year. I'm actually enjoying the research, not something I have ever really needed to do for my truck models as these were all bit from either memory or imagination. I have to admit to being a disciplined (or some would say a bit anal) about my modelling - I alway make sure I finish one model before I start the next so I only ever have one on the go at any time. I would love to have over 50 models completed and on display. I reckon I have about a twenty on display at home (mostly in my modelling room) and one on on the shelf above my desk at work.

Hi I stopped counting about 5 years back over 450 then, still buying, still space in loft. Most of my kits i have got for less than £10 as that was my limit for kits up to a few years ago, now i go to £15 or max £20. I have only brought 3 kits over £20 in all my time thats over 44 years of kit building. I donot buy the upgrade stuff cost to much and you can do most of it yourself any way, only have one or two conversion kits these only cost max £7. If i build just my French Stuff i shall be about 180 years before i finish them at the rate i build, then you have the rest !!!!. PS Now who has all them Revell / Heller Mirage 111 e in 72 in there lofts as i need a few more for my collection ie next years French Airforces Sig display, these will get built ??.

Looking through your stash Nige I see one missing that I am looking for.
Thats the Airfix M3 Light tank(Diesel) with the modified Turret 1/35th scale.
If you see one, then I am up for it. ;D
