Here's a few photos of a project that I have on the go. I have taken some resin copies of a MK2 Transit van and am in the process of making a long wheelbase van and a chassis cab. have a look and see what you think My resin copies One van all marked out for cutting A couple of hours later! The roof is taking a while to get right as well as a lot of filler!! I am converting the rear tailgate into twin rear doors The chassis cab is a little easier to do. The chassis just needs extending slightly as well as having all the holes cut out! My Transit fleet so far. The original kit van is in the middle Hope you like them. More soon

Thanks guys, glad you like them so far. I have made some progress with the conversions and should be posting some photos soon.
Yes, it is me from the SPC forum and I still have the moulds for the original body.
Nice one mate thanks

Ok guys, time for a small update. I have actually got as far as putting some paint on these body shells now so that the copies should turn out better! Once the moulds are taken for these, I want to concentrate on the chassis and maybe have a go as white metal casting for the springs and axles etc. The chassis for the chassis cab hasn't turned out very well and is quite weak, so I am going to have to make one from brass box section or something similar. Ah well, it was worth a try! The long wheelbase van will be cast as it is for now, but I will be altering the rear arches to do a twin wheel version once I have sorted the wheels out.

A quick update just to show recent progress with the chassis cab. The resin based open chassis was a complete disaster and had to be scrapped, so I have scratch built a new one from Evergreen and bits from the scrap box. I have also had a go at the wheels for both vans as well. The left one is for the single wheel type and the right one is for the twin wheeler. More soon!!

Nice project development Neil! I'm impressed. Will you have any to see at Telford?

The latest update. The chassis cab version is nearing completion. It just needs windows, headlights and indicators etc. fitting before it can be set to one side and have the bodywork built for it. I'm thinking maybe just a wooden flat bed or maybe an aluminium style tipper. The wheels took some work to get right but I think they have turned out quite well actually. The long wheelbase van is a little further behind as I am going to paint another body in the correct Ford colour (keeps it authentic!) The second body is also lighter so that there is less stress on the suspension. As I managed to break the original front grille I thought that I would try and build a grille from the earlier MK2. It was quite fiddly to do but I think it looks OK, although I plan to do a better one. As things are starting to be finished, I thought that I had better look at the exhaust system and try to scratch build something. This is what I have ended up with. I also had my first attempt at weathering. Hopefully it looks good? Let me know what you think guys!!

Thanks. I would like to bring some stuff to Telford but I am not an IPMS member (yet!) so I'm not sure if I can or not. Maybe I can persuade some kind soul to let me put them on the corner of a table somewhere.

Nice conversions there, love those rims on the cab/chassis, would you consider casting some more and selling them?

OK guys, after several weeks of messing about with resin etc. and nearly throwing the lot in the bin, I have decided to rebuild the chassis cab. The resin front end has been chopped off and replaced with the plastic one from a second hand van that I acquired. I have also had a go at the bodywork and a little weathering. Have a look and see what you think I have started to make a few bits for the load as well. I have also been playing around with another body shell and come up with this

Hi Neil
Your tipper has worked in nicely and the minibus looks braw !!! Minibus could do with a roof rack and some canoes on top and towing a trailer with more !!!!!!!!!
You are really making good use of the shells to give you loads of build options. Looking forward to your next installment.
