So much for it being an easy job to resize using the bits I already had !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Eh ,,,,,,,,,,,,, No !!!!!!!!! After looking at the photos, I realised the real front supports are cranked forward to allow part of the front grill to turn under when tilting the cab. I thought this would be hard to get the strength to support the heavy cab, but it turned out to be just the fiddly bit of getting the bits in the right place to both look the part and make enough contact with the chassis rails to give it strength. Will tidy it up a bit more tomorrow, but I am glad I changed it as it now looks far better. Nige

Thanks Nick,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Appreciated Making real in-roads to constructing the mudguard mounts and having to make minor adjustments here and there to accommodate them. Decided to reinforce the aluminum by dripping superglue into the fold lines to reduce risk of premature fractures from all the minor adjustments I have doing to the angles. Also added a thin sheet of plasticard, superglued to the undersides. This will also assist in giving a good surface to glue the air cleaner Made up the additional mud guards between the two steering axles And added the first of these to the chassis. The mounting brackets are formed using a plastic coated thick wire that has a good strength but is easily bent with pliers. Still got some detailing to add in the form of reinforcement to the mounting brackets on the real thin but is surprisingly strong as is Nige

These lucky Dutch bar-stewards have bought one from the auctions of UK Army vehicles !!!!!!!!!!!! I want one too !!!!!!!!!!! DROPS in civvy hands in HollandNot many hills to go off roading in Holland though and the height restrictions on Dutch roads are very tight and strictly monitored by bridge monitoring equipment !!!!! Added the rear axle brake actuators and pipework The four rear tires fouled the mudguards, being slightly out in track width so had to re-aline the rear two axles by cutting through the axles at the brake actuators and sanding them shorter. Then glued the parts all back together Also wasn't happy with the strip of grip on the side walls of the tires that gave them too sharp an edge. Was awkward sanding off this detail without making the other side wall lining and mitchelin legend too soft Then added the slave power line and main battery power switch on the second mudguard

Added the cab tilt lock/unlock bar to the back of the cab Unlike all the Italeri and Revell kits that have left hand drive cabs that need you to either chop the kit parts or buy aftermarket dash boards for British trucks, I have the KFS kit with right hand drive, geared up for the British market already !!!!!!!!!!!! Only problem is that the DAF DROPS needs to be left hand drive, but not possible to chop the KFS part and don't think Howard has left hand drive copies. The dash is easy to scratch though, especially having the original to work from. Used an 'I' beam to start off with and then built up the surfaces with varied thickness of card and sanded back. Got a nice neat fit on the windscreen Now need to work in all the detail under the front grill to fill in the gaps and save it looking like a toothless wonder Nige

One of the attempts was using the aluminum foil on plasticard which proved to awkward to get all the angles together Fourth attempt with plasticard gets the angles this time I think and I just need to build in the lights and thin bars over them Also tackled the sump guard with the exhaust box support Hope to mount the bumpers and think about putting primer on the chassis as can't think of bits left to add Nige

Cocked up on inking the rubbers on the windscreen so had to give another coat of green. Realised I needed to add hooks to hang the anti glare screens over the windscreens Also the rubber seal and grab handle on the roof hatch Added some Revell filler to the roof and roughed it up for the anti slip coating to the roof Rear step at the cab lockers was missing Cab tilt lock can be seen but anti glare screen hooks still to be added to the rear windows The windscreen I was dreading trying to get a fit is cut and held with blue tac for the moment. Windscreen rubbers and side window bottom rubber seals painted using a permanent marker. Worked second time round Nige
