A little correction to the main roller lengths and the addition of the guide rollers Is nice to touch plastic for a change instead of poo bums and plasterboard !!!!! I must promise myself to do this more often. Nige

Added the rear tool locker below the rear rollers Have got to figure out the correct dimensions for the mounting brackets that connect to the chassis and take the weight of the rollers while loading a flat rack. The box makes use of the space between. I can't ever remember having to go into the box or what was supposed to be carried in it. Maybe regular soldiers can say what was to be put in the box. Nige

Nige, depending on who's train set it is at the time the SOPs for kit to put in the rear bins vary. sometimes its ratchet straps and sometimes it was the slave lead and airlines for towing a dead vehicle.
keep up the build mate its looking better all the time.

Iain
Thanks for that !!!! It was you that gave me a push back on to the DROPS so I will try to make the best use of your offer if I can, It sounds like it could be one of the last opportunities without actually buying one and storing it in the drive. If I had the money ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, No kidding either !!!!!!! Oh to be a lotto winner !!!!!!
I will have a think over the next couple of days and drop you a note. Stuff that come to mind if you can: -
Does your unit have the roof mounts for the GPMG or the handbook for their maintenance and fixing?
Would be good to get a few basic dimensions and photos if you did.
Basic dimensions and pics of the four sides of the transfer box, the prop shaft lengths and diameters.
Photos of the chassis and side rails from above and four sides when LHS is extended fully to view the space where the LHS would be.
Photos of the cab roof, sides and dash.
The cab mount locations front and rear when the cab is tilted if poss with close ups of the mounts and the points on the chassis where they are located plus light distance to get reference of what is around them.
Not sure how much of the engine lump will fit under the resin cab, but as many angles of the engine bay, radiator, fan, etc
Views of the oil tank and area around the front of the LHS when the cab is tilted,
LHS hydraulic secondary control box (interior and exterior),
Photos and lengths of the support points for the front two axle leaf springs and pics of the mountings to the chassis from the underside.
Undersides of the LHS hook and arm and pics showing the routes of hydraulics serving the them.
Pics of the steering linkages and lengths of the connecting rods.
Pics of camo nets rolled up if you can with a rough diameter and length in their rolled state.
Sides, rear end and underside view of the sump guard, exhaust pipe and its supports.
That is a lot I know, but any or all of these would be appreciated.
Can't thank you enough Iain. VERY MUCH APPRECIATED !!!!!

That would be amazing if you could ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, would be great to get re-aquainted with the old beasties before they go off line !!!!!!!!!!!!!! As you say, it is a bit of a list and it would be easier for me to try to get the angles I am looking for from my own perspective !!!!!!!
If you can clear it with those above I will try to match up with a date to suit you !!!!!!!!!!!
Always much appreciated and would be great to catch up with you again !
Look forward to hearing from you

Nige. got permission from our MT bods to bring you in so now we just have to sort out dates.
a sat or sun will be depending on the training programme and dont forget we have remembrance sunday coming up soon.
a wed night is easiest but you would probably only have about an hour on the wagon.
or the last option would be during the day.
let me know whats best for you.

Hi Iain I would love to take a day at it if it were at all possible. Would want to crawl all over it and get acquainted again. Ha ha ha ha ha !!!!!!!!!! But I will work around whatever you want as it is your time I am taking up !!!!!!!!! With a bit of notice (a week maybe) I can take a day off to suit you or even just get an afternoon off to suit your timings. Please let me know a few options that suit you and I will try to match the best for you !!!!!!!!!! A little bit of progress: - Rear rollers mounted on chassis A compromise on the leaf spring support brackets as they will have to take a lot of weight from the KFS resin cab The rear pivot point for the walking suspension pivot points. Also acts as the rear mounting point for the LHS sub frame Nige

Look forward to speaking with you Iain
Hi folks
I need to figure out the best wire or tubing to use for the hydraulic pipes and the best way of making connections that will not be fiddly to put together as sub assemblies, will be flexible enough to accept some movement when posing the LHS, will accept paint whether acrylic or enamel and won't pop out at the slightest knock or vibration.
Any ideas greatly welcome as well as a source if known.

Added some bump stops Iain, my mate from the TA has wangled a visit to his TA centre for some serious time getting to hug ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I mean clamber over, under and in the DROPS motor before they get put offline in the British Army !!!!!!!!!!!!! Am going to make the best use I can of the day and get as many detail pics with measure sticks. They also going to put the motor over the pits so will try to get even more details of the underside which has been something missing in my reference pics until Iain arranged some earlier. Looking forward to the noise and smells to rekindle fond memories !!!!!!! Nige
