Ed Wood Jnr's epic Plan 9 From Outer Space!! Not even the death of the main actor could stop this movie being made. Great story, great sfx..............no I'm kiddin' it was terrible, but I LOVE IT!!!!! Second choice Star Wars, then 2001

Mine would have to be Aliens, The Abyss or Avatar. Hmmm seems to be a bit of a James Cameron thing going on here..........Silent Running with Bruce Dern is awesome as well.......Im in bits every time I watch it! Best TV sci fi is Battlestar Galactica. Best books, The Lost Fleet series by Jack Campbell or anything by Greg Bear. Heavy going but so compelling.

I would certainly agree with Aliens, not often that the second film is better than the first but Alien was good if a little slow.
Avatar is a funny one, it is certainly a love it or hate it film, I really enjoyed it. For a good film, The Fifth element stands the test of time.

Noel
Morning, i like this tread, following is off the top of my head, and are the films that made the most impression on me:
1) 2001 - by far the best Si-Fi Film ever made.Stands head and shoulders above the reat
2)clockwork orange - well it was set in the future 3) blade runner - brilliant 4) soylent green - made a big impression on 1st viewing 5 the omega man - " " " 6) 2010 - not Kubrick - but worth a look 7) the final programme - so '1970's. 8) the final countdown - F14's v Zero's. + the Nimitz
There must be more i will have to give this some more thought and get back.
this thread should run and run.
all the best
paul

Again playing catch up.........as only just noticed thread. DONT TELL HIM!!!!!. (Get it...Fred... ??) Anywho best Sci Fi movie ever for me has to be the original The Day the Earth Stood Still. Was looking forward to remake.........Lasted 10 minutes in the cinema, walked out, threw up, vowed never to watch ever again!!!!.

I agree with virtually all of the above, but must the new 'Dredd' film (Not the awfull attempt by Stallone to be avoided at all costs!)

Yo Simon, in total agreement about DREDD, however, have to say Star Trek Into Darkness is equal to being one of my faves at mo. Dying to see how Mr Abrams is gonna handle Star Wars. Has to be better than Mr Lucas's latest (and thankfully) last efforts.

I am so much into shows by Andy Yeatman that I am not able to think about any other movie or show. These shows have been great and I would recommend everybody to watch it. I read a review about these shows once and completely fell in love with it.

Quite a number of new science fiction movies of late, and will be interested to see what the Avatar follow up will be like. Passengers was good and an interesting concept. Aliens had some mentions but oddly enough not Prometheus carrying on in that theme. What about the Matrix Trilogy? Surprised that there was no mention of this as the concept was brilliant.
