Its a day off from work, for modelling, and you find yourself needing to do some modelling technique not done before.
To be able to look up the technique or subject and see links to youtube videos on it, or an internet site with it as a talk through is what is wanted. Instant access, and to be up and running again is useful, a leave saver. To spend the rest of the day trying to work out how best to do it is not so good, the day is gone, failed before even got going. Leave is so valuable so to fall at the first hurdle is an awful way of blowing it away. To know the answer you seek is in a certain mag is ok if one has a library easily accessible and also with that certain mag in it, chances are you havent got it.
Is an easy access methods database something that TAS is there for ? Pulling together all the useful tutorials would take some doing but if members were to email through with details of where such exist, and a thread here or better still part of the IPMS website be devoted to such, that would be of great benefit to all.
There you are, stuck, you remember the fact that you are an IPMS member, its there for assistance, access the website, look up the topic, click and read members advice or be taken to another website with the method explained, 10 mins and you are rockin and rollin. Join IPMS to access the help on demand, a growing arsenal of techniques. To me having IPMS answer modelling techniques in the moment you need them is a real member joining incentive. Maybe have it such that members can submit the link or text to the existing category and have the ability to add categories and topics. I am currently stuck on a new technique and can see my leave yet again being wasted, being an IPMS member I then wonder how it can help me on this as I need to resolve this now, else I am unable to progress. Others must hit the same need.
