Hi to all, Can anyone recommend a colour or colour mix to obtain a good Desert sand as used in 1942 by British forces ( My interest is Churchill Tanks )
It would help if the paints were available in the UK.
Cheers

Thank you Alfie, That was just what I needed. I was beginning to think no one look at the site and that I would never get an answer. Thank you once again. Cheers French47

Kingforce Churchill IIIs were all upgraded before delivery to M.E. The WD numbers have an R suffix, this means reworked. They were painted Light Stone BS.61 before shipping out. On arrival they were prepared for desert service including a disruptive colour. That colour has been shown over the last 40+ years as black or green. However veterans accounts say 'red primer colour, 'earth brown' and 'chocolate'. A Camcolour range of low quality paint available in M.E. has a 'chocolate' shade and that may be the colour in this case. Humbrol 160 may be used to represent this colour. For Light Stone 61 mix 8 x H74 + 1 x H26. The desert colour was really quite light and yellow, nOT the dull ochre or brown shade that many modellers use.
