Nick the prices you see are the prices you pay, sorry to state the obvious but if you don't like the prices on display you have two choices, pay up or leave them where they are. Shops do not have to give a discount and as far as I'm aware Chester is not on the list for a 'Modelzone' outlet.

Unfortunately being spoilt by the cheap prices we can get at model shows does seem to make them over priced in the retail shops but its really the "proper" price for them. Can't get show prices everywhere

Just to add a little to this....
I wasn't impressed with my first look at the Modelzone area in WHSmith Birmingham - but I didn't expect much and therefore wasn't surprised. However, I called into another large branch - Manchester - and saw that they had the new Airfix Lightning in stock. It was, of course, at the full retail price and, as I'm tight-fisted, this wouldn't normally tempt me but...... I got into conversation with a member of staff who pointed out the '20% Off All Kits' vouchers and was very happy to get a deal on a brand new F.2A.
I also noted that they had the full, very extensive, range of Humbrol paints so, all in all, not a complete waste of space and actually better than nothing!

Modelzone has had a mention or two within this post. Are they still in existence? Thought that they had gone belly up with Amerang last year. Chester had quite a large, well stocked Modelzone store. I visited it about 2 years ago. As for the comments about W H Smiths, they have been rattling on a bit now don't we all think. Their main lines are Books, Magazines and Stationery not model kits so can we get this into perspective and move on?
