I have found a couple of references to Tamiya producing a 1/35th kit of the Bofors 37mm W36 anti tank gun, Why, I've even seen a photo of an Aber photo etch set for it. But nowhere have I ever seen the kit, or a review of it, in either magazines or on the net. This may well have been issued in my 1/72nd aircraft days, before I saw the ground-based light, and therefore passed me by. Does anybody remember it? Was it good, bad or awful? The Tamiya code for it is given as either TB0007 or 1957100007 and it actually is listed on the Perthmilitarymodelling site as a kit, but nothing else. A search of ebay in all its horrors revealed nowt. The MarS kit of this gun in 1/72nd is a beauty but requires too much of my heating allowance cash to get more than one. The idea of a bigger version in 1/35th appeals to my diminishing eyesight, but apart from the mysterious Tamiya version none seem to exist. Please, can anybody tell me if this kit really existed and if a quest to find it is going to be worth the effort? Thanks, John

The only 1/35 version I know of is the one produced by Tom (a Polish company) in the early 1990s.
It was injection moulded plastic and was reasonable, if very fragile and a challenge to assemble well. I had at least one example and may have had a couple more at one time.
I doubt Tamiya ever produced it.
Cheers, John

Thanks for that, John. It fired a synapse or three in a memory bank and sent me searching. My brain is most definitely not at its best; two 1/35th kits, excluding the mythical Tamiya, exist. Mirage do a Polish version (I've actually got the damned thing in the loft, I found it lurking up there this evening.......) which consists of two small sprues wandering about in a vast box, not bad but a relatively poor big brother to the excellent MarS kit. And, as John notes, there is a version by TOM Modellbau about which I know nothing except that Hannants list the Aber brass etch as being designed for it. A couple of US sites had the Aber as being for 'Tam' which I read as Tamiya but Hannants list it as for 'Tom'. I suspect that the brass may well help the Mirage version; a search for the TOM kit may follow as a birthday bonus for myself! I now know I definitely haven't got the TOM version squirreled away, I've looked......nor is there a Tamiya box labelled 'Bofors 37mm'. John
