I have just removed the paint masks from the canopy of the Xtrakit Meteor T.7. It has left very sticky patches on all the windows. Can anyone advise how to remove this mess without removing the paint as well?. What can I use so that th plastic of the canopy is not damaged either?

Hi, First let the paint cure for at least 24 hours, preferably a bit longer. This will make it less susceptible to attach from any chemicals you might use. Usually you will find a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or ethanol alcohol (rubbing alcohol) is the safest and most reliable way. Don't soak the part, just work on enough to get the residue off. Blowing will dry off the alcohol without having to touch the part. It should not attack the clear plastic, but if it makes you feel better, try it out on a scrap of the same material. You can get Isoproyl Alcohol here. Cheers, Rob

Just a friendly piece of advice, both IPA and Ethyl Alchol are HIGLY FLAMMABLE so please don't smoke or use near heat sources. Both have a flash point of <12C, which refers to the temperature at which their respective vapours will ignite.

Extremely good advice. It would also not be a bad idea to store such items safely - i.e. out of the reach of kids and away from likely sources of ignition.
Because I never use more than a few drops of IPA at any one time, I decant 50ml or so into an old glass medicine bottle (with child-proof top) which is all that I ever keep on the modelling table. The big bottle is safely stored away. Remember to label the bottle clearly.
